The Photos app allows you to change the duration or slow down videos directly from an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac.
Cut video

Do you have videos that are too long to send via Email or Message? Or maybe you just want to send a portion of the video to friends and family. With the Photos application, you can change the start and stop times to shorten videos.

On an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

Open the Photos application and tap the video to edit.
Tap Edit.
Move the slider on either side of the video timeline to change the start time and stop time.
To display a video preview, tap the play button.
Tap Done, then tap Save as New Clip.

Photos on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch will save your edits as new videos, so you can use the long or the short version at any time.
On a Mac

Open the Photos application and double-click the video that you want to edit.
Navigate to the video, click, then select Crop.
Move the yellow slider on both sides of the video timeline to change the start time and stop time.
To display a video preview, click the play button.
Click Cut.

If you change your mind and want to return to the full duration video later, open the video, click, then select Reset Crop.

Adjust slo-mo video

After recording in the slo-mo camera mode, you can edit the part of the movie that is playing with slow motion effects. This way, you can play videos at normal speed, and slow down certain details so that viewers don’t miss them.

On your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, tap Edit on the slo-mo video that you want to edit. On a Mac, just point to the video. After that, use the vertical white lines in the video timeline to set the start and end times for slo-mo.

Use third-party applications

You can also download third-party applications on iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to further edit videos. Or install third-party photo editing extensions on Mac for use with internal tools in Photos. Learn more about how to edit with third-party extensions on Mac.
